The Olmec Methodology is different, in that the OS is managed more like a traditional desktop or server distribution. The customer starts with binary packages which they use to build the configuration they need. The customer then adds their application on top of Olmec Linux and is only responsible for the OS configuration, and their application, which reduces their maintenance cost significantly.
With the Olmec Methodology, OS updates are managed by netSweng, and are delivered to the customer as binary package updates, which the customer can then either deploy directly to their end users, or use to produce updated device images, depending on their configuration.
